What Is Kybella®?
Kybella® is an injectable that is used to target the fat beneath the chin. This process uses deoxycholic acid, or synthetic bile to target and destroy unwanted fat cells around the chin and face. This process permanently destroys the cells and prevents the storage of fat. Kybella® can help to give a contoured and smooth appearance.
The fat located under your chin can be stubborn, and may stick around even after following a healthy diet and exercise plan. Our treatment provides an effective way to target this area that is non-surgical and minimally invasive with little down time.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Kybella®?
Our team provides a detailed consultation to determine if Kybella® is the right treatment for you. We will discuss your goals, and develop a customized treatment plan for each patient. During our consultation we will talk through all of the details, so you are informed and know what to expect. Our team will also review your medical history, and discuss any previous cosmetic procedures you have done on your neck, face, or chin area. There is little preparation required for Kybella®, and patients can return to their normal routine shortly after the treatment.
What Can I Expect During My Kybella® Treatment?
During a treatment Kybella® is injected into the area using a fine needle. This process only takes approximately 15-20 minutes, and the pain is minimal. If requested we will use ice to decrease discomfort. Depending on the target area you may require multiple injections and multiple sessions to get the best results. Downtime is minimal after a Kybella® treatment. Patients may experience bruising, swelling, or numbness near the injection site, but this should subside after about 1-4 weeks.
How Long Does Kybella® Last?
The synthetic bile in Kybella® permanently destroys the fat cells under your chin. The results from Kybella® are usually permanent. If the injections do not destroy every fat cell in your chin area, you may notice changes with weight gain.
